Rutgers’ Steve Beauharnais A Butkus Award Semifinalist, Khaseem Greene Left Off

By Matt Sugam

The Butkus Award has dwindled down it’s list to 12, and Rutgers middle linebacker Steve Beauharnais made the cut. The Saddlebrook, NJ native is one of 12 semifinalists on the list for the award that is given to the best linebacker in college football.

Beauharnais — the only semifinalist from the Big East — has 37 tackles and a half a sack on the year.

Surprisingly, weak side linebacker Khaseem Greene is not a semifinalist. The reigning Big East Defensive Player of the Year has 67 tackles, three and a half sacks, and two interceptions on the year.

No. 15 Rutgers (7-0, 4-0 Big East) returns to action on Saturday at to take on Kent State (6-1, 4-0 MAC) at High Point Solutions Stadium at 3:30 p.m.
