No. 18 Rutgers vs. Pittsburgh Preview

Three and out

1. Will the Big Ten news this week be a distraction?

It shouldn’t be. If anything, it should help. Sure, players have had to answer questions about it all week, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing when it’s taking the focus off the game from a media standpoint. That is of course, if the players keep their minds off it.

2. How will Savon Huggins and Jawan Jamison split carries?

After carrying the load for the injured Jamison, Huggins proved he can be a workhorse running back as well at Cincinnati. Because of that, the two will once again split carries like they did to start the season. While both said this is something they’re ok with, they also both say that they’re more effective running backs the more carries they get.

3. Can Gary Nova cut back on the interceptions?

After just two interceptions through the first seven games, he ‘s thrown 10 through the last three games. His two interceptions at Cincinnati were inexcusable red zone turnovers. While Nova’s mistakes haven’t cost Rutgers like they did against Kent State, it’s only a matter of time until they do again. So it’s better if he cleans them up before they do.

The sophisticated fan will be watching…

The score of Louisville vs. UConn

Rutgers can win a share of the Big East Title by beating Pitt or having Louisville lose to UConn. And if they win at Pitt and Louisville falls to UConn, Rutgers would win the Big East Championship outright.

Fourth and short

If Rutgers wins at Pitt, it’ll be the first time in the program’s history that they won six road games.

Quote of the week

“We’re not concerned about that. At the end of the day, we’re not going to win a Big Ten Championship this year. We’re going to win the Big East Championship and that’s all we care about.” – Khaseem Greene on if the Big Ten will be a distraction.
