Matt Flanagan commits to Rutgers

By Matt Sugam

Rutgers has received their 24th commitment - again - from the class of 2013 in Matt Flanagan.

The tight end from Mendham, N.J. announced on twitter that verbally committed to Rutgers.

However, Flanagan won’t be under scholarship as he was recruited as a preferred walk-on.

“This kid is a very good get as a preferred walk-on,” ScarletNation.com’s recruiting analyst Matt Hladik told SNY.tv. “He possesses  the frame and run blocking ability you like to see in a tight end and with some work in the Rutgers strength and conditioning program, could develop into a solid pass catcher.
“He is the type of walk-on who I could see getting playing time in some role in a couple of years.”
