Lester Liston Verbally Commits to Rutgers
By Matt Sugam
On the eve of Rutgers home opener, head coach Kyle Flood picked up his 17 verbal commitment for the 2012 class.
Middle linebacker Lester Liston of Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, VA) verbally committed to the Scarlet Knights today according to ScarletReport.com and ScarletNation.com.
Currently at Hargrave Military Academy for the fall semester, he attended Grand Blank high school in Michigan. He’s rated a three star recruit by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.
Rutgers linebackers coach Dave Cohen had recruited him out of high school to go to Western Michigan when he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach there according to Matt Hladik of ScarletNation.com. Hladik said Rutgers has been at the top of Leston’s list since this summer.
“He’s aggressive. He can hit,” Hladik said. “Rutgers is hoping that he can kind of fill that role of Steve Beauharnais had as that kind of thumper in the middle with Steve graduating. There’s other guys with Quanzell Lambert, but they were looking to get a couple more linebackers this spring and he’s one of them.”
