With defensive coordinator Robb Smith leaving for the NFL to reunite with Greg Schiano in Tampa Bay today, Kyle Flood is said to be close to naming both a new offensive and defensive coordinator.
Ron Prince –who recently interviewed with Flood – is Flood’s top candidate to be the next offensive coordinator while Rutgers’ linebackers coach David Cohen would become the defensive coordinator according to The Star-Ledger.
Like Flood, Prince’s background is mostly as an offensive line coach, and was the head coach at Kansas State from 2006-2008.
Cohen has experience as a defensive coordinator at Western Michigan and Delaware. He was also the head coach at Hofstra for four seasons before the school dropped the sport.
Graduate assistant Anthony Campanile would be promoted to the secondary coach, which was also coached by Smith.
