Kyle Flood expects a major turnout by Rutgers fans at the Russell Athletic Bowl

When Rutgers (9-3) kicks off against Virginia Tech (6-6)  at 5:30 p.m. on December 28 in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, FL, head coach Kyle Flood expects to see a sea of Scarlet in the Florida Citrus Bowl.

“I do think we are going to be very well represented here,” Flood said today during the media event to promote the game at the site of the bowl game.

The first-year head coach’s reasoning is simple.

“The value of the matchup, the venue, the City of Orlando,” Flood said. “I think all those things are going to draw.”

Not to mention that this is the best bowl game Rutgers has ever been to. Families can also make it a trip to Disney World. Then there’s the fact that a lot of people from New Jersey retire to Florida.

In turn, Flood anticipates the best fan turn out in the programs history.

“I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t be the most traveled to bowl game we’ve had since we started going to them,” Flood said.
