After surprisingly being snubbed from the Butkus Award semifinalists list, given to the best linebacker in the country, Khaseem Greene has been named a finalist for the Chuck Benarik Award, given to the best defensive player in the country.
Greene, the reining Big East Defensive Player of the Year, has 67 tackles, three and a half sacks, four forced fumbles, two interceptions and five and a half tackles for a loss on the season. Greene was named the Chuck Bednarik National Player of the Week for his performance against Syracuse.
Three finalists will be announced on November 19. The winner of the award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 6.
Rutgers is has a bye this week and returns to action Saturday, November 10 when they host Army.
