Kenny Britt’s dad says his son is cooperating with police

While Kenny Britt has yet to cooperate with police following an incident where he dropped off a stabbed friend at the Jersey City Medical Center, his father Jack spoke out and said his son has done nothing wrong.

“Kenny is not running from anyone. He has nothing to hide,” Jack Britt told the Tennessean. “He is fully cooperating and the police are saying a lot of things that just aren’t true. They don’t have all the facts. Kenny is going to clear this thing up.”

The problem is, he hasn’t yet.

“Until he comes in, nothing has changed,” Jersey City Police Captain EdgarMartinez said. “Kenny Britt is a grown man. He needs to get here.”

Jack Britt says his son was just helping a friend that was stabbed during a fight get medical assistance and that he was not there when the gunfire took place in the area of the shooting.

“Kenny wasn’t even there when (the shot) happened. We have several shootings in Jersey City, and Kenny didn’t have anything to do with it. He wasn’t even there. He wasn’t even at the scene,’’ Jack Britt said. “Kenny was just trying to do the right thing. He was telling his friend’s parents he’d been hurt, dropping someone off, going back home to Bayonne. I don’t understand how police got him involved in all this. The whole thing has been blown out of proportion.”

So despite his son’s checkered past, Jack Britt thinks this is an issue that will be cleared up soon.

“This was a night when Kenny was trying to be low-key and stay out of trouble,’’ Jack Britt said. “Sometimes it just seems like trouble follows him, coming from people in his past unfortunately.”
