Rutgers received it’s first New Jersey commit of the class of 2014.

DePaul’s (Wayne, N.J.) defensive endJustin Nelson committed to Rutgers today, becoming the second verbal commit of the class of 2014 according to ScarletReport.com and ScarletNation.com.

“Rutgers was the first to offer Nelson in February,” ScarletNation.com’s recruiting analyst Matt Hladik told SNY.tv. “He has experience playing as an outside linebacker and defensive end, and judging by his skill set and what the staff has told him, he seems like a strong fit for the “R” position, because he can use his speed off the edge but also drop back into coverage.

“Nelson’s commitment strengthens the relationship between Rutgers and DePaul, a North Jersey Catholic school known for producing D-1 talent.”
