Gary Nova Named Manning Award Stars Of The Week Candidate

By Matt Sugam

For Gary Nova, today is a day of accolades. After being named the Big East Offensive Player of the Week, Nova was named a candidate for the Manning Award Stars of the Week.

The award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college careers of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. Nova was one of eight quarterbacks selected this week and the only one from the Big East.

Nova’s career-high 397 yards and five touchdowns helped lead Rutgers past SEC foe Arkansas. The Scarlet Knights are now 4-0 for the first time since 2006 and just the second time since 1980. They’re also in the Top 25 for the first time since 2009.
