Flood Figures Out Rutgers’ Fullback Rotation

By Matt Sugam

PISCATAWAY – A day after revealing his starting fullback is out the season with a lower leg injury, head coach Kyle Flood has figured out how to fill the void Michael Burton leaves. By committee.

“I think it’s just going to be a combination of guys, “ Flood said.

Somewhat like what Rutgers’ had to do with the departure of Mohamed Sanu.

“Maybe it’s not a great comparison, but when a guy like Mohamed Sanu leaves the program, it’s not just one person that can get those catches,” Flood said. “And for a fullback, with all the things our fullbacks have to do in the pass game, on the line of scrimmage blocking, carrying the ball at times, I don’t think it can be just one guy because I don’t think we have just one guy that fits that mold, but I think we got a collection of guys that fit that mold.”

Those guys will be fullback Sam Bergen, and tight ends Paul Carrezola, Tyler Kroft and Beau Bachety

“We got a collection of people that can do the total job so we’ll be able to keep the offense in tact.”

Note: Flood say he expects Marvin Booker (lower leg) to be able to play vs. UConn.
