Devan Carter commits to Rutgers

A day after Rutgers wrapped up an official visit weekend, the Scarlet Knights received their 22nd commit of the class of 2013.

Brighton (Rochester N.Y.) running back/linebacker Devon Carter verbally committed to Rutgers today according to NJ.com.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder – ranked a two star recruit by both Rivals.com and Scout.com – flipped to Rutgers after committed to Syracuse this past summer. One of the reasons for the change of heart was simple.

“Syracuse was recruiting him as a linebacker but Carter has expressed a preference for playing offense,” ScarletNation.com’s recruiting analyst Matt Hladik told SNY.tv. “Rutgers likes him as a fullback and with his good frame and athleticism, he seems to have the tools necessary to develop into what the team is looking for in a pro style fullback.”
