Eddie Jordan named as defendant in lawsuit filed by ex-players

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, Jerome Seagers and Robert Lumpkins – two-ex Rutgers basketball players – named not only former head coach Mike Rice in a complaint, but current men’s head coach Eddie Jordan (Carino/Sargeant, March 27).

The lawsuit also names Rutgers University, former president Richard McCormick, current president Robert Barchi, and former athletics director Tim Pernetti.

The complaint states that after media reports surfaced that Seagears had “retained private counsel to bring the lawsuit against [Rutgers]… Jordan retaliated against plaintiff Seagears by doing acts including but not limited to: removing him from the starting lineup; significantly reducing his playing time; removing him from practices; and ultimately suspending him from the team without reason or justification.”

This is the second lawsuit to name Rutgers due to the misconduct of Rice. Last December, ex-player Derrick Randall also filed suit.
